THE ART OF ESSENTIALS

On Craftsmanship, Ritual, and the Making of Circa Accessories

Designed in Los Angeles and handcrafted in Italy, Circa Accessories by Jacques Marie Mage comprise a refined collection of limited-edition objects conceived as essential companions to our handcrafted spectacles. Subtle, historically informed, and rigorously made, these accessories reflect our enduring respect for craft traditions and our belief that the most intimate, purposeful objects of daily life deserve the same devotion as any modern heirloom.

Each Circa Accessory is the result of an intensive artisanal undertaking, one shaped by time, material knowledge, and the disciplined repetition of skilled hands. Whether rendered in leather, precious metal, or a considered union of both, every piece carries forward a philosophy rooted in tradition, precision, and a reverence for process.

Our leather goods are handcrafted in Italy by master artisans whose expertise is informed by generations of leatherworking tradition. The process begins with the careful selection of premium, responsibly sourced hides from ateliers recognized for their commitment to environmental stewardship, ethical labor practices, and material excellence. Among these are vegetable-tanned cowskins—tanned naturally using tree bark, leaves, roots, and fruit husks in a method that can take months to complete—alongside glossy calfskins prized for their softness and durability, and distinctive ostrich and eel leathers valued for their expressive textures and natural resilience.

These raw materials are expertly die-cut and painstakingly skived to achieve slim profiles and supple volumes. Interiors are reinforced with additional layers of leather and fabric, fused and sewn to withstand the rigors of daily use. Edges are precisely cut, then hand-painted and cured multiple times to ensure both longevity and refinement. The resulting objects balance softness with strength, structure with ease.

Equally rigorous is our approach to precious metal accessories. When applicable, collectibles are cast from sterling silver and/or recycled, certified conflict-free gold, then shaped, engraved, polished, and finished entirely by hand. The process favors intentionality over automation, allowing subtle variances to emerge—small, human distinctions that lend character and depth to each object. Hairline engravings, sculptural forms, and refined finishes speak to a lineage of metalwork where vision, expertise, and patience define the outcome.

In select designs, these traditions converge. Leather and metal are brought into deliberate dialogue as complementary materials united by design and function. Soft hides wrap polished forms; engraved metals anchor supple straps. The tension between organic and elemental becomes the point, with each material enhancing the other through contact, contrast, and balance.

Across every category—from eyewear pendants that reframe the rituals of wear and care, to plush oversized cases designed for thoughtful protection and transport—we work in close collaboration with master artisans whose generational knowledge informs every decision. Signature details recur with purpose: finely debossed Art Deco-inspired linework, hand-applied arrowhead adornments plated in Silver Palladium or 24k Gold, custom linings in our Bordeaux Empire color, and subtle hallmarks of limited production that speak to the object’s rarity.

Like our eyewear, Circa Accessories are not defined by perfection, but by presence. Natural variations in leather, the gentle patina that develops with time, and the quiet evidence of the human hand are not flaws, but affirmations of authenticity. These collectibles are designed to evolve, to be shaped by use, care, and the personal rhythms of daily life.

Imbued with our characteristic balance of tradition, inspiration, and innovation, Circa Accessories transcend function to become enduring tokens of personal expression. Thoughtfully made, materially honest, and quietly resplendent, they are essential objects crafted to endure, to serve as trustworthy companions for a life lived with intention.
