Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) proudly presents HÉRITAGE II, a special collection of limited-edition eyewear handcrafted in Italy utilizing responsibly sourced Asian water buffalo horn.

Drawing on a decade of JMM design, the HÉRITAGE II collection presents new iterations of the ZEPHIRIN, LECLAIR, YVES, KELLERMAN, and the compact DUENDE aviator, originally produced in partnership with actor Jeremy Strong. They are joined by the WOODLAND, a new streamlined, ’60s-inspired Saratoga-style spectacle named after the Hollywood Hills street whose homes evoke the Golden Era of Hollywood’s iconic movers and shakers..

The accompanying campaign photographed by Steven Klein enters the rarefied world of one of Hollywood’s most creatively daring periods. Klein’s cinematic tableau unfolds throughout a remarkable hillside residence, moving between richly appointed rooms and terraces overlooking Los Angeles. With its distinctly Southern Californian atmosphere of cultivated excess and effortless sophistication, the campaign recalls a period when cinema shaped culture and style, and became a language of power.

Buffalo Horn gives HÉRITAGE II its singular character, with variations in color, pattern, and tolerance making every finished spectacle a limited edition of one. Crafting begins with extra-thick, 16mm blocks of horn, a rarity in the eyewear industry. Their substantial depth requires that each frame be milled into shape rather than heated and bent, as with acetate. The nose bridge is shaped using high-speed 5-axis milling, part of a process that takes four times longer than the production of an acetate frame.

Frames and temples are hand-polished at multiple stages throughout production, drawing out the horn’s distinctive grain and natural warmth. Tolerance can vary from 0.1mm to 0.4mm, requiring each spectacle to be carefully assembled by hand and every lens cut individually for its particular frame.

This exacting approach extends to the responsible sourcing and use of the collection’s defining material. The horn is collected only after the completion of the animal’s lifecycle, while shavings and waste from the production process are used as agricultural fertilizer.

Proprietary PTX lenses, offered in Charcoal, Pine, Bistre, and Azure, are made from a high-impact, urethane-based material originally developed for military helicopters. Combining the optical clarity of mineral glass with the featherlight resilience of polycarbonate, they are hard-coated to withstand scratches, fog, and chemical exposure, providing exceptional clarity and impact resistance in all conditions.

JMM’s celebrated hallmarks take on added dimension throughout the collection. Custom arrowhead front-pins gain additional volume and fine hairline details, while polished metal temple inlays display JMM’s signature Art Deco-inspired linework. Custom Buffalo Horn nose pads rest on adjustable polished metal arms, and the LECLAIR is further distinguished by polished lens-rim inserts. Metal details are finished in 18k Dark Gold, Light Gold, Sterling Silver, or Silver Palladium.

Limited-edition eyewear is delivered in a remarkable Collector’s Box Set in JMM’s signature Bordeaux Empire color, and includes a custom leather eyewear case adorned with a precious metal buffalo crest, an oversized double-sided microfiber cleaning cloth, and a custom stainless steel screwdriver featuring handgrip and burgundy enamel fill detailing, as well as Horn Wax and a special polishing cloth for extended care and use.
