Developed in dialogue with filmmaker Takuji Masuda’s award-winning documentary Bunker77 (2016), the collection draws from distinct chapters in Bunker’s life and legend, transforming actual eyewear, personal iconography, and episodes from his life into contemporary expressions of uncompromising individuality.

A tribute to uncompromising individuality and a life lived at full tilt, Bunker77 by JMM arrives with a new campaign by acclaimed photographer Steven Klein, whose charged visual storytelling refracts Bunker’s singular collision of glamour, danger, rebellion, and restless self-invention through a contemporary lens.

Bunker77 by JMM introduces four new limited-edition eyewear styles shaped by the places Bunker traveled, the people he encountered, and the persona he created for himself. A singular figure of 1970s surf culture, Bunker Spreckels moved through the world with an appetite for speed, danger, beauty, and reinvention. From Malibu and Hawaii to South Africa and Hollywood, his short, turbulent life careened between privilege and rebellion, athletic brilliance and self-destruction.

Throughout the Bunker77 by JMM collection, signature JMM details are joined by a distinctive ‘Calavera’ medallion inspired by the skull-and-bones motif found on Bunker’s personal letterhead. That iconography extends into a focused series of jewelry and accessories that include a sculptural signet ring, a sumptuous dog-tag pendant necklace, a provocative precious metal bill clip, and a well-mannered yet muscular pin-buckle belt.

The LATIGO signet ring, an ode to Bunker’s wave-riding at the storied breaks of Malibu's Latigo Beach, and the JEFFREYS pendant necklace, named in honor of Bunker’s wild stretch along the coast of Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, both come in special Diamond Editions that feature a precious metal skull-and-bones ‘Calavera’ centerpiece set against a field of responsibly sourced White Pavé Diamonds, offering a scintillating expression of daring feats and beautiful trouble.

Limited-edition spectacles, jewelry, and accessories are received in a custom monograph box featuring a ‘Calavera’ insignia inspired by Bunker’s personal skull-and-bones letterhead debossed in Red and Copper foil.
