The Dealan by Patti

An Icon of JMM that reflects the enduring relationship between an artist and their eyewear, here PAtti has re-imagined the DEALAN to include our signature arrowhead front pins with unique Bloodstone inlays; our polished wirecores with finely engraved lyrics from Smith’s song “Land”; and inner temples with the artist’s signature foil-stamped in Silver.

DEALAN in CABARET VERT

Named after a poem by Arthur Rimbaud (1854-1891), who was a major influence on Patti Smith throughout her career, these limited-edition icons arehandcrafted from Polished Black plant-based acetate, complemented by Armorlite lenses in Light Bottle Green, with our signature arrowhead front-pins in Sterling Silver featuring Bloodstone inlays, and exposed custom wirecores and other polished metal hardware in Silver. 

DEALAN in RAYON VIOLET 

Penned by Patti Smith, “Rayon Violet” is a literary allusion to the work of poet Arthur Rimbaud(1854-1891),who was a major influence on Smith throughout her career.Here, it is expressed in Polished Havana plant-based acetate, complemented by Armorlite lenses in Nimbus, with our signature arrowhead front-pins in Sterling Silver featuring Bloodstone inlays, and exposed custom wirecores and other polished metal hardware in Silver. 

DEALAN in MAUVAIS SANG

Named after a song written by Patti Smith, “Mauvais sang” is French for "bad blood" and was used by the poet Arthur Rimbaud (1854-1891) to describe a chaotic or restless state. Here, it is expressed in Polished Warm Gray plant-based acetate, complemented by Armorlite lenses in Ruby, with our signature arrowhead front-pins in Sterling Silver featuring Bloodstone inlays, and exposed custom wirecores and other polished metal hardware in Silver. 

Collector’s Box Set

Each collectible arrives in an exquisite Collector’s Box Set featuring a black linen exterior with foil-stamped details and an inner case adorned with Robert Mapplethorpe’s iconic portrait of Smith from Horses. Inside, a vintage black leather envelope case lined in Bordeaux Empire microsuede is accompanied by an oversized cleaning cloth featuring original photography by Smith, an exclusive chapbook containing her handwritten lyrics and photographs, and a collector’s T-shirt created in celebration of her 50th anniversary tour.

Vinyl Reissue

Collectors of these limited-edition spectacles will receive a vinyl reissue in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Patti Smith’s Horses—a 2-LP of the iconic original album remastered direct from the original 1/4” master tapes, as well as previously unreleased outtakes and rarities, including Patti Smith’s 1975 RCA audition tape.
