EDITION: 148/150

FRAME STAMP: JMMNW-02

HANDCRAFTED IN ITALY

Originally released as part of the Spring 2019 Vanguard Collection, the “Newton” are distinctive, ‘70s-inspired aviators that translate rhythm into form.

Defined by their unique construction, these spectacles pair sculptural acetate lens rims with a sleek titanium top bar that traces their contour before extending seamlessly into slender temples, punctuated by refined acetate adornments. The result is a provocative balance of structure and fluidity, weight and lightness, line and curve.

Emerging from Vanguard Collection, an early series informed by the geometric rigor of Art Deco and the fractured perspectives of early modernism, the “Newton” reimagines these influences through a contemporary lens. Materials converge with improbability and intention, creating a visual language that is at once architectural and expressive.

Named in homage to Olivia Newton-John, whose presence bridged pop sensibility and cinematic allure, the design captures a distinctly ‘70s spirit—confident, kinetic, and unmistakably self-possessed.

GROOVE IS IN THE HEART

In music, the ‘70s was a boom period on both sides of the Atlantic, not just in volume, but in divergence. More music was being made available than ever before, with new styles emerging alongside established forms: punk, new wave, progressive rock, soul, reggae, and disco, among others. Each carried its own codes, its own communities, its own visual language. Disco, of course, would come to define the decade’s most visible expression of collective release—its rhythms built for movement and immersion. But it existed alongside more abrasive, more introspective, and more experimental currents, all contributing to a cultural ecosystem where identity was fluid and constantly in flux.

THE SUPER SEVENTIES

If Origins marked a return to first principles, our second curated collection of archival gems turns toward a moment of pure release, an era when form gave way to feeling and spectacle became a way of life.

With this second offering from Réserve, we step into the charged atmosphere of the late-1970s, from NYC—where the boundaries between nightlife, art, music, and cinema dissolved into a fevered, electric exchange—to London’s Savile Row, where bold creations, over-the-top window displays, and champagne-fueled appointments brought a radical new approach to tailoring and contemporary style.

The Super Seventies draws from this fevered convergence, assembling a tightly edited offering of rare spectacles that embody the era’s sense of elegance, irreverence, and provocation. These are objects shaped by a cultural moment where disco met downtown, fashion became performance, and the night offered myriad ways of escape.

Here, we do not simply remember, but revel in archival styles that channel the personalities and provocations of a decade where the boundaries between nightlife, art, music, and cinema dissolved into a single, shimmering continuum…
