PASOLINI

Pasolini

COLOR: ROVER

YEAR: FALL 2021

EDITION: 15/150

FRAME STAMP: JMMPS-20

HANDCRAFTED IN JAPAN

Originally released in Spring 2016, the Pasolini established one of Jacques Marie Mage's earliest signatures, embedding polished metal lens-rim inserts within the confident geometry of a 1960s-inspired Wellington shape, giving the silhouette a graphic tension that quickly became one of the collection's defining expressions.

After its initial release, the Pasolini was only seen again five years later, in 2021, issued in select colors as a special 5-year anniversary edition, which sold out immediately. The frame offered here in the Rover color story is from this second special offering, drawing inspiration once again from the very glasses worn by charismatic and controversial Italian poet, writer, and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini.

A frequent subject of portraits, interviews, and newspaper photographs, Pasolini was rarely seen without his thick-framed sunglasses, whose severe profile became inseparable from his uncompromising public persona. In the Rome of postwar tenements, film sets, literary quarrels, and political scandal, those glasses became part of a face that seemed permanently prepared for confrontation.

It’s an honor and a pleasure to revisit this story and groundbreaking design, which serve as a homage to the uncompromising pursuit of craft, culture, and artistic expression.
