Michelin, le mans, and goodyear patches

Select Color: MICHELIN, LE MANS, AND GOODYEAR PATCHES

AVAILABLE IN 1 COLOR

80 USD

Michelin’s genial Bibendum sits beside Goodyear’s fleet-footed emblem and the emphatic checks of Le Mans Racing Products, three small embroideries alive with the graphic invention that surrounded motor racing in the 1970s. Each approaches speed differently: one through a character of magnificent absurdity, another through the terse authority of a name and symbol, the third through the chromatic excitement of the finish line.

Behind their visual charm lay a fierce contest in engineering. Goodyear entered the decade with a formidable presence across Formula One, NASCAR, IndyCar, and endurance racing. Michelin challenged that supremacy through radial construction, using Le Mans as a proving ground for technology that demanded durability as much as outright pace. In 1978, Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud covered more than 5,000 kilometers in the Michelin-equipped Renault-Alpine A442B, securing the first overall victory at Le Mans on radial tires.

Together, the patches compress that great industrial rivalry into velvet, thread, and color. Technical ambition becomes instantly recognizable, rendered with enough wit and graphic force to endure long after the final lap.
